Segway has been a long-running staple of the personal transport industry and its latest Drift W1 e-Skates show that the company still has plenty of room for experimentation and innovation. The new personal transport vehicles leverage the same self-balancing technology employed since the original Segway Human Transporter and have apparently been in development for at least 10 years. Specifications have yet to be announced by Segway but the size of the skates may suggest a smaller battery capacity.
The Drift W1 e-Skates are not currently available to consumers but will be formally announced at a press conference at the IFA tech show in August 2018. A short video demonstrating the Drift W1 e-Skates has been shared by Segway and a single lifestyle page is currently the only announcement Segway has made about the product.
