Near the Yellowstone National Park in Montana stand geologically inspired sculptures as part of the Tippet Rise Art Center.
The sculptures were designed to function as both outdoor art as well as musical venues. They appear to be part of the surrounding terrain with their natural appearance. The sculptures were created to blend in with their surroundings so as not to disrupt the wildlife, landscape and weather patterns of the area. They were inspired by the natural wear and tear that carves out landscapes over time -- "sedimentation, fragmentation and erosion." Inside the art center will lie stone sculptures that, while not part of the surrounding landscape, still emphasize natural geological processes.
These large sculptures that will also function as venues prove the possibilities of creating art and structures without disrupting the world around it.
