Kay's K9s Makes Custom Miniature Replicas of Your Favorite Animals

Canadian artisan Kay Stalher makes amazingly lifelike and cute replicas of dogs, cats and other pets out of felt. She uses a technique called needle felting which involves poking wool fibers thousands of times with a special barbed needle to create her 3-D pet copies. It is a time-consuming craft as each pet replica takes her 15-30 hours to complete.

She works from photographs and will sculpt either the whole pet or just the head. The latter can be used in key chains, fridge magnets, brooches and so on. An animal lover, part of the proceeds from her work go to the SPCA or animal shelters.
