David Shrigley's Satirical Tableware is a Dinner Conversation Starter

British artist David Shrigley has designed a ceramic collection upon which chef Pierre Gagnaire's menu for the Gallery at Sketch will be served. The collaboration is one of many for the restaurant, located on London's Conduit Street.

Shrigley's offerings feature satirical drawings, text and patterns. Some of the pieces make reference to the restaurant's location, Conduit Street, while other accessories feature cheeky and evasive labels, such as "nothing" and "dirt," rather than revealing their contents. The drawings are varied, featuring everything from astronauts to poodles.

Of the opportunity, Shrigley says, "I'm delighted to be working with Sketch on such an exciting commission. It will be the first artwork that I have made that can go in the dishwasher. It will be very clean artwork."
