Satiric Bad Boss Ads

These Clever Ads Promote Leadership by Staging Improvised Sketches

The Center for Workplace Leadership teamed up with Melbourne Creative to design these leadership-promoting ads, which feature improvised sketches. The clever ads highlight the importance of learning leadership skills by acting out scenes that incorporate workplace situations.

The ad begins by showing a commercial set where actors are told to portray their idea of being a bad boss. However, when these scenes end, the director then asks the actors to create improvised sketches of being a good boss. At this point, many of the actors were silent until one man says, "I think it's kind of hard to improvise being a good boss because we need to learn that and leadership is an acquired skill."

These humorous ads create a meaningful impact because all of the scenes are completely natural with no associated script. The ultimate message is that you can't improvise good leadership, but you can learn it.
