Apolinario Pereira's 'Salao Coboi' Project Mimics A/W 2012 Lines

Artist Apolinario Pereira's 'Salao Coboi' project is a part of 'The 9 Worthies' series. The small monster-like toys capture the apparel of high end Autumn/Winter 2012 collections with direct references to ACNE, Paul Smith, Jil Sander and Maison Martin Margiela.

Pereira's interest in Salao Coboi was first ignited three years ago. According to his description, the creative endeavor represents a "collective that was born in 2009 two days after Michael Jackson's death in the European Wild West (Portugal)."

Though the roots may be cooperative, Pereira now runs the Salao Coboi venture on his own. The dolls piece together highlights from current runways, capturing seasonal sparkle heels, loose floral print pants, rustic suspenders and desert boots. When taken together, the figures become contemporary reflections of in-vogue styles.
