Depression-Combating Lights

This Designer SAD Lamp is For Those Fighting the Winter Blues

If you suffer from seasonal depression, this SAD lamp will give your emotional state a designer makeover. Created by designer Éléonore Delisse as a graduation work at Design Academy Eindhoven, the Day and Night light will not only brighten your mood, but your living space as well.

The red and blue lights are supposed to reset your circadian rhythms. The blue wavelength makes you feel more awake and combats Seasonal Affective Disorder, where as the red light encourages melatonin production, which will help you to sleep better. The SAD lamp has round color-changing glass pieces set in a stone and wood frame. The colored glass casts a shadow intended to help reset your biological clock and make you feel better.
