Shredded Gothic Fashion

Death Valley- and Vulture-Inspired Rodarte Spring 2010 Collection

The Mulleavy sisters were inspired by a singed Death Valley and contorted and tattered black vultures for the Rodarte Spring 2010 collection. To set the mood, the floor was covered in black sand, eerily lit dry ice smoke filled the room, and a musky smell drifted through the area (a collaborative offering from Rodarte and fragrance company Firmenich). The chic, deconstructed dresses that have made the sisters famous still permeated the Rodarte Spring 2010 collection along with a pair of ripped black pants all paired with Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte footwear.

The gothic theme of the Rodarte Spring 2010 show was carried through even in the make-up. Tribal-inspired tattoos were painted in black along the models arms, their lips were painted a deathly shade of black and their hair was was held back in a web of sheer wool.
