'Erica the Robot', as she is so eloquently named, is set to become the world's first artificially intelligent TV news anchor. She may not be able to move her arms very well, but she is able to track people's movements in a room, detect sound, identify if you're asking her a question, and even tell jokes. Her creators say that she has not only developed a personality, but also a soul.
Erica’s creator, Hiroshi Ishiguro, says that they intend to get her on the air in Japan in April. She won’t be involved in collecting, sourcing, or validating the news, but she will use her AI and advanced speech synthesis system to read news stories that have been written by her human counterparts.
