London-based photojournalist Giles Price took to the 2016 summer Olympics host city for a Rio photography project that exposes the environmental damage that's a result of readying the land for the games.
In order to depict this, he took shots from a birds-eye view beginning a year before the event. The series includes saddening images that show the pollution to the water the extensive construction has caused, places that had to be destroyed to make way for the Olympic Park site, land "suffering from an extended drought" and more.
In addition to depicting the substantial damage to the environment, Giles Price's Rio photography project speaks to the people of the area as well, with the fast-paced construction efforts causing many people to be forced from their homes.
