Lidl Has Introduced Reusable Produce Bags to Curb Plastic Waste

Plastic bags have become a mainstay in the produce aisles of many grocery stores, which is something that UK grocery store brand Lidl aims to change with a new offering of reusable produce bags. Priced at 69p per pair, the bags are intended to eliminate the need for single-use plastic bags when picking up fresh fruits and vegetables from the store. This comes as part of the brand's commitment to cut plastic packaging by 20% by 2022 and even shift its own product packaging towards reusable, recyclable, renewable or refillable alternatives by 2025.

Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Lidl GB Georgina Hall spoke on the new reusable produce bags saying, "We have made changes – big and small – over the years to help contribute to this. Today’s announcement is the next step, and one we hope will help customers shift to a truly reusable option."
