The 'Caterham EV Seven' Will Feature An All-Electric Powertrain

As far as retro sports cars go, few vehicles have managed to capture the imagination as much as the Caterham Seven produced by United Kingdom-based auto manufacturer Caterham Cars, with the company now taking this appeal into the future with the upcoming launch of an electric version of the vehicle.

The 'Caterham EV Seven,' which is being created as part of a collaboration with electric engine company Swindon Powertrain, is being positioned as a vehicle that will be used to test and tweak the workings of an electric vehicle powertrain for maximum performance and customer satisfaction. The vehicle is set to achieve a top speed of 209 km/h and the ability to sprint from zero to 97 km/h in only four seconds.

"We’re doing this with our eyes wide open so that we learn how to deliver the specific attributes necessary for a Caterham Seven; lightweight, simple and fun to drive," the automaker stated in a press release.
