Daring Diva-Inspired Mobs

Respect DC Sings Classic Aretha Franklin Song in Local WalMart

Respect DC recently brought its flash mob to a local WalMart in Maryland for a very unique purpose: to sing the classic Aretha Frankin song 'Respect.' The group picked the song Respect as a statement directed to WalMart, hinting that they should in effect show some respect to local neighborhoods.

What I particularly like about the Respect DC flash mob concept in a local WalMart is that it is a prime example of citizens demanding what they want of companies as a group. This is definitely a great concept and I hope to see more similar ideas pop up in the near future.

Implications - Consumers have been bombarded by ads and as a result have become adept at tuning them out. Marketing strategies that strive to be unique will capture the attention of consumers. Companies should take this into consideration when creating their campaigns.
