AWS Releases Resource Optimization Recommendations

A new tool for AWS was released called EC2 Resource Optimization Recommendations. The tool is able to examine a user's EC2 activity and give tailored recommendations. Resource optimization recommendations look at user history and use Cloud Watch metrics as well as already existing reservations on the platform.

The tool will recommend that users shut down any idle instance that has a less than a 1% maximum CPU utilization. After the tool has found a less-used instance, it will show users three other sizes that could be used in order to better fit a user's usage history. The tool will work for EC2 instances but not for GPU instances currently.

The new tool is now live for users of the AWS platform
