Vegetative Residential Tower Designs

Safdie Architects' Building Boasts a "Hillside of Terraces"

Located in Quito, Ecuador, this residential tower design by Safdie Architects adds a nature-infused component to the city's narrative. The silhouette of the building is staggered and interesting. Specifically, the building's east and west sides have an irregular trajectory with a series of cuboid volumes that not only add a sculptural presence but also a strong green aesthetic. In virtue of its undulated profile, the residential tower design provides shade and an attention-grabbing aesthetic. As Safdie Architects specify in a statement, the stacked volumes form "a hillside of terraces," while the overhanging cuboids create a "cliff face."

The Quito residential tower design is projected to be one of the tallest buildings in the Ecuadorian capital. During the project, Safdie Architects is also supported by local construction firm Uribe & Schwarzkopf.
