Recycling Jeans Infographics

This Infographic Shows Eco Processes to Making Denim

This recycling jeans infographic explains an eco-friendly process to creating jeans. Clothing manufacturing has been a contributor to water pollution and according to China Water Risk, 17% to 20% of the water pollution in China is because of the textile industry.

Levi-Strauss & Co. decided to launch a new and improved way of making jeans with recycled water. This reduced the amount of water a factory had to use and also ensured that the water leaving the plant would meet the clean standards. The recycled water system was introduced and implemented at a supplier factory in China. The factory made 100,000 pairs of jeans with 100% recycled water.

The waste water is treated with a two-step system. The first system is where the water is treated to meet local standards and Levi’s global standards. The second system is where some of the water is treated by a micro-filtration system to be re-used in the manufacturing process.
