Recycled Tire Footwear

Timberland and Omni United are Creating Recycled Shoes Out of Used Tires

Omni United is now designing tires with a second life in mind -- resulting in recycled shoes and boots from Timberland. With the slogan, "When the tread wears out, the tire lives on," Timberland is making a conscious effort to make their products even more environmentally friendly. The sole of its beloved boots was already made with 35% recycled rubber that would have otherwise been wasted. Now, its footwear will be created with 'Timberland Tires' that have been re-purposed rather than discarded.

While there has been a growing interest in recycled apparel in recent years, Timberland Tires are the first tires ever to be made with the intention of becoming recycled shoes. Consumers are increasingly wanting to reduce their environmental impact without trading in the products they know and love. This is why more fashion brands, like H & M and Speedo, are turning to recycled apparel to lower their own costs while increasing their appeal to eco-friendly buyers.
