OMA Presents its Proposal for Rebuild by Design

Rebuild by Design is a new initiative aimed at addressing all of the areas effected by Hurricane Sandy. Various firms are submitting proposals as to the best ways to prevent damage from these types of natural disasters in the future. The latest one comes from OMA for the New Jersey area, which encircles the main coastline.

Those participating in the project must recognize that "individual and unconnected solutions do not work, [and] the holistic approach acknowledges the density and complexity of the context, galvanizing and protecting the entire region." Ultimately the goal is to ensure the safety of all those in the area, instead of focusing on a few isolated spots. Hopefully this will save lives in the future, and prevent billions of dollars worth of damage. Photo Credits: designboom, oma.nl
