These real life versions of the iconic Tetris blocks are visually compelling. Created by Swedish artist Michael Johansson for an exhibition in Milan, Italy, they are part of a series called 'Crossfades.' The real life Tetris blocks were created by Johansson by packing storage items like suitcases, lunchboxes, metal cash boxes and file storage units tightly together to create larger cohesive cubes. The structures are striking as they have all been separated into color hues. There are even some large LEGO bricks in there giving the blocks more of a gamer feel.
Crossfades runs at the flat gallery in Milan until February 23rd. We think this exhibition will evoke fond childhood memories for anyone born in the eighties.
