David Irvine Gives a Twist to Unwanted Illustrations

David Irvine, a visual artist from Canada, scours thrift shops, garage sales and curb sides for unwanted paintings, and adds his own twisted, yet funny ideas to them.

Re-directed paintings, as he calls them, incorporates cartoonish characters into dull landscapes that are unimaginable to the typical viewer. In Irvine's eyes, a chilly winter landscape is the perfect setting for an octopus puppet show, an innocent little girl becomes a bloody partner to a crime and a plain old tree is revamped into the place where Bambi and friends explore their wild side.

Irvine turns usual landscape paintings like a red barn and old mill into something comical and entertaining. The one rule he stands by is to never paint or cover up the original artist's signature. Although respectful, it is also questionable whether the original artists will appreciate David Irvine's fun-filled works of art.
