Genre-Defying Magazines

Rankin's Hunger Magazine is for the Culturally and Visually Hungry

Not quite fashion photography and not quite photojournalism, Rankin's Hunger is the new bi-annual magazine that combines glossy high-fashion prints with edgy journalism, interviews and a high dose of culture. Rankin, the co-founder of Dazed and Confused, launched this exciting project on November 17th. The famous photographer wanted to create a platform that showcased his hunger for photography and culture. Hunger bridges the gap between genres such as fashion and photojournalism by providing creating beings a place for "uncompromised self-expression, innovation and discovery," according to the Hunger TV website.

Rankin, over his 20-year career, has shot everyone from Kevin Spacey to Kate Moss. His newest project, which is also accompanied by Hunger TV, the video medium of Hunger, takes a bold step to covering everything from interviews to the drought in Kenya. Rankin's Hunger magazine holds great intrigue because it doesn't assume categorical simplicity and recognizes the importance of style and culture in all aspects of being.

In an interview with Nowness, Rankin says, "I look for people with the same excitement for what they do and passion to create that I had, and still have!"
