Futuristic Railroad Vehicles

This Freight Liner Can Travel on Both Roads and Train Tracks

The future of freight travel looks to incorporate vehicles capable of moving on roads and on rails. These massive modern vehicles combine the capabilities of road trucks with freight trains and the result is the rail-road truck.

The proposed truck will have two separate sets of wheels, one for the road and the other for the rail. Although existing only in theory, a vehicle like this has the ability to alter the transportation industry as we know it. Currently, many products that cross large countries require various transfers between freight trains, travel liners and airplanes. With hybrid freight and travel liners, one travel element is completely eliminated.

Designers are also concerned with how these large vehicles can better take advantage of space. For example, traffic on highways will be much improved if most transport vehicles travel on railways rather than roads.
Trend Themes
1. Rail-road Trucks - The integration of road trucks with freight trains will give rise to rail-road truck with a disruptive opportunity in the transportation industry.
2. Hybrid Freight and Travel Liners - The development of hybrid freight and travel liners eliminates one travel element for products that cross large countries.
3. Railway Transportation - The use of railways over roads for most transportation vehicles will significantly improve traffic on highways.
Industry Implications
1. Transportation - The rail-road truck technology will give the transportation industry greater flexibility with opportunities for cargo movement.
2. Logistics - The development of hybrid freight and travel liners will improve the logistics industry's inventory and supply chain management.
3. Manufacturing - The use of railway transportation has the potential to decrease transportation costs for manufacturing companies with supplies that travel long distances.
