Computer File-Replacing Programs

Quip Apps is an Anti-Office Document and Spreadsheet Editor

The age of computer files may soon come to an end thanks to these series of Quip apps. Similar to the original web version and compatible with both Windows and Mac, they create "a sort of collaborative anti-Office," writes Fast Company. Essentially a "web-savvy document and spreadsheet editor," it works perfectly offline as it does online and leaves no trace of a file in sight.

Quip CEO Bret Taylor says, "We really wanted to make desktop software that worked offline, but abandon the concept of the file as the core unit." Through these Quip apps, people will be able to access documents in much the same as they do movies and music through Netflix and Spotify.
