The Qatar National Convention Center would be impressive enough without going for goldâ€"LEED Gold, that is. Seeking to be the first of its kind in the area, it will feature 3,700 square meters of solar panels amongst other resource-saving features.
Designed by Yamasaki Architects, the Qatar National Convention Center is modeled after the Sidra Tree. To open in 2011, even if it doesn't succeed in obtaining a LEED Gold rating, which seems pretty impossible, it's stunning enough to make up for it.
