A one-third scale gold-plated replica of the Aston Martin DB5 'Q Branch' -- used by James Bond in the 1964 movie Goldfinger -- is being auctioned off by Christie's auction house. The auction marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of Goldfinger, and is looking to raise money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
This one-third scale 24-carat detailed replica has a realistic interior complete with a deployable shield, machine guns, revolving number plates and a detachable passenger roof section. It is also fitted with a replica of the original BMT 216A license plate and comes with an upholstered case bearing a 1960s-style radio remote for gadget control.
The scale model was built by making a 3D scan of a real DB5, before scaling down the plan and fabricating the necessary parts using a 3D printer.
The online auction continues online until September 17, and is expected to bring in between $65,000 and $97,000.
