The tires are designed to separate and discharge microplastics while driving and have them captured via an internal central capsule. The collected waste could then be deposited at service stations instead of allowing it to simply be dispersed into the environment.

The conceptual 'Pureback Nexen' tire is the design work of Cheolhee Lee, Seongjong Kang and Lee JH96, and is imagined with an intelligent LED system for letting drivers know when the internal collection capsule needs to be replaced. Blue illumination indicates particle capturing, while red lets driver know the system is full.
