Mercedes-Benz and Moncler Unveil Puffer Jacket Version of the G-Class

German car brand Mercedez-Benz and Italian luxury fashion house Moncler teamed up to create a particular reimagination of the G-Class in a puffer jacket-inspired car design in what is known as Project Mondo G. The car was first shown at Moncler’s "The Art of Genius" show during London Fashion Week. A member of Mercedes-Benz’s board of management Britta Seeger spoke about the creative collaboration, saying: "It’s not something you would imagine from the automotive industry, so we wanted to take things to a different level."

Project Mondo G is inspired by a winter look with many of the car parts being covered with the puffer jacket look that Moncler is known for. The design took over a whole year and the results of the outcome show the G-Class car replicating an individual wearing an actual puffer jacket onto their body. The roof of the car is covered in a puffer jacket texture with a zip design placed on the back with the Moncler logo on it. The wheels of the G-Class are also covered in a puffer jacket texture that highlights each rubber wheel pattern in a bubble-like appearance. The added Moncler designs have made the car weighted in 2.5 tons. With new designs like this to the Mercedez-Benz, the brand admits to trying new collaborations with different designers for new creative perspectives and reaching new audiences beyond the automotive industry.
