Upcycling Body Hair Initiatives

Pubes for the Planet Uses Shaved Hair to Mitigate Climate Impact

Personal care brand eos launched Pubes for the Planet to collect shaved hair to give customers a way to repurpose hair waste and raise awareness of how repurposed hair waste can help solve environmental problems. When someone signs up to donate their body hair, they will receive a dedicated "pube collection pouches," 100% biodegradable envelopes and a small tube of shaving cream. Carbon offsets have also been purchased to address the environmental impact created during the delivery process.

eos is working with partner Matter of Trust so that the collected hair can be used for the purposes of fertilizing a "Pube Park" at a San Francisco plant. And for every tuft of hair that is donated, the personal care brand will be matching it with a financial contribution, up to $15,000 USD to Matter of Trust.
