Driverless Transportation

Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) Vehicles at Heathrow Airport

Heathrow Airport just got a lot more high-tech with the introduction of the Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) vehicles.

These Personal Rapid Transport vehicles are controlled by a touchscreen which allows riders to set their destination. Fitting up to four people, the PRT vehicles travel at a speed around 25 mph.

Best of all, there is no fear of accidents with the PRT vehicles.

Implications - When flying somewhere via plane, connecting flights can be some of the most stressful experiences for travelers. Flyers are often worried they will miss a flight and very often find themselves sprinting frantically through an airport in order to make their next flight. Airports, such as Heathrow, that provide travelers with a quick, easy and efficient mode of transportation around the airport from one terminal to another, can significantly reduce the anxieties of travel and create a more enjoyable experience for customers.
