Pop-up shops are common ways to sell fast and avoid costs, but pop-up theaters definitely isn’t in line with the norm, at least if you’re not from Hong Kong. This bamboo pop-up theater is changing the way we view architecture.
People build things for events all the time. Events like the circus or concerts see tons of workers busily buzzing around trying to get the stages right for the festivities, but this theater is not only larger than the average pop-up building, but looks as if it wasn’t put up hastily.
The theater shows off classic Asian flare in the design, from the strong structural bamboo poles to the bright, colorful and frilly exterior. The structure uses 10,000 bamboo rods and seats 850. The structure was built by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and will be available to the public until February 9th.
