Cancer Council of Australia 'Daredallion' Campaign

The Daredallion campaign inspires people to live daringly while raising awareness about cancer.

Daredallion Week is sponsored by the Cancer Council of Australia in an effort to raise awareness about the prevalence of prostate cancer in Australian men. Daredallion Week is March 2-6, 2009.

Participating daredevils register their dares on Daredallion.com.au, and ask people to make a financial donation to sponsor their dares. All money raised will be used toward increasing awareness for men’s cancers.

Current dares include dressing and speaking like Cookie Monster for a day, showing up to work wearing just underwear and acting as a mannequin in a store window. One of the first dares to be attempted is featured on the website: it’s of a man trying to float away from Bondi Beach in Sydney while strapped to helium balloons. These dares are not for the fainthearted!

This campaign works because it supports the belief that cancer shouldn’t stop anyone from living their lives as cautiously or daringly as they choose. And it’s raising awareness in a fun, uplifting way, as opposed to hammering out messages and statistics about prostate cancer.
