Seeking to emphasize personal health and longevity, the partners reimagine the public infrastructure to combat age-related muscle loss. The concept targets adults over the age of 30. The playground is an excellent space for Helan and RAAK Design Studio's innovation as many parents and babysitters are 30+.
There are a total of four playground benches as part of this wellness-focused initiative. The designs are quite interesting and strategic. While one bench is balanced on a coil spring and requires users to engage their core, another prompts users to exercise their own legs to stand up.
These benches have been placed at a recreational site in Ghent, with six other Belgian cities showing interest in similar installations.
