KitKat's Plastic-Free Packaging Turns Into a Sea Creature Paper Craft

Chocolate bar wrappers are usually trash after they've been separated from the treats they protect but KitKat created plastic-free packaging that doubles as a fun activity. The waste-reducing paper packages are artfully decorated with marine creatures, which match a newly released Ocean Salt KitKat flavor—the premium treat boasts a white chocolate base that's combined with sea salt sourced from the Seto Inland Sea.

In all, there are four different packaging designs for consumers to collect and turn into origami sea animals—either a sea turtle, a seal, a dolphin or a manta ray. To further support waste-reducing initiatives, Nestlé Japan is donating a portion of each unit sold to Zero Waste Japan.
