Pop Culture Pixelated Paintings

Adam Lister Gets 8-bit With Popular Franchises

A pixelated painting is a nifty and refreshing mash-up of art forms. Pixelation is generally done digitally and is an alteration to an already finished product; however these paintings turn that idea on its head.

Adam Lister did not alter these images with pixelation; to the contrary, he started the project with pixelation as the main form to be used in the pictures. These paintings depict very popular franchises such as Star Trek and the cult classic Ghostbusters in blocky 8-bit fashion. The images are not done digitally and instead done by hand in a way that emphasizes the geometry of the characters displayed.

Being able to combine the fine art of watercolor painting with the modern art of digital alteration to create a pixelated painting is an amazing skill that yielded amazing results.
