Rustic Italian Gelaterias

The Piccolina Gelateria Restaurant Serves Classic Gelato Recipes

Sandra Foti created the Piccolina Gelateria, a classic Italian-inspired restaurant in Melbourne, Australia.

The restaurant serves traditional gelato recipes that have been handed down for generations, making it similar to establishments from southern Italy in the 1950s. With a five-meter pozzetti counter, the spot offers 24 stainless steel counters to house the frozen desserts that are made in-house daily. The interior design team created a classic green and white color scheme by using emerald green tiles to surround the bar and rustic white walls. Keeping architectural features from the original building—including the terrazzo flooring, stone arches and a pressed tin ceiling—made the space seem like an instant classic design.

The new Piccolina Gelateria was created to bring tradition back to the neighborhood, in both the menu and design styles.
