Klaus Leidorf Captured These Images of Landscapes From a Plane

Photographer Klaus Leidorf gets high in the sky to take aerial view pictures of a range of landscapes in Germany. Leidorf uses a Cessna 172, a small propeller plane, to cross the sky above the places he wants to capture.

The images Leidorf captures are of farms, cities, agricultural and industrial sites or anything else that crosses his path. Leidorf refers to the process as "aerial archaeology." Since the 1980s, he's shot thousands of aerial photographs. The photos show how drastically landscapes can change over time because of humans. Sometimes humans build works of art and sometimes we destroy already beautiful things.

Over a decade of Leidorf's photography is available on Flickr.
