Photographer Alex MacLean is one person who takes the phrase 'the sky's the limit' quite literally. The 66-year-old spends around 250 hours a year flying around the world in his Cessna 182 airplane and taking breathtaking pictures of unsuspected subjects below from his brilliant vantage point. His photographs capture a diverse and visually stunning array of scenes of human activity and nature.
Among the most breathtaking of his recent images include a vibrant photograph of flower-filled fields divided into plots of land bearing brilliant and vibrant hues of green, yellow, blue, red and pink. Aside from such photos capturing desolate scenes, MacLean also takes snaps of hives of human activity by capturing scenes such as people sunbathing or surfing.
"It's a lot easier than taking pictures from a car," photographer Alex MacLean said. "My plane normally flies itself level, even without the autopilot on, so I can focus on leaning out and taking the shot I want."
