Real Phone Calls in Virtual Worlds

Calling All Second Lifers... Literally

Second Life will soon allow it's loyal Lindenites to call each other from inside the virtual world. Doesn't this violate some sort of metaphysical law or something? So, let me get this straight. People who want to spend their free time avoiding the real world can actually make a telephone call, and using their own voice, speak to another human being? You mean, like, REAL communication?

It's coming in early 2008.

Implications - So forget Internet anonymity as you can no longer hide behind the guise of an avatar. Who knows? Maybe that scruffy brute of a man you met in Second Life is in actuality your cute neighbor.
