For April Fool's Day this year, Amazon launched a teaser video for 'Petlexa,' described as a new skill for the hands-free, voice-controlled smart speaker Echo.
As its name suggests, the prank feature shows that now cats and dogs will be able to communicate with Alexa using the same ease as their human owners. Some of the features that are teased with Petlexa include pets being able to activate smart home toys, order food and keep track of steps taken like popular wearable fitness devices.
Streaming music, playing trivia and ordering food are just a few of the things that can actually be done by giving voice commands to Alexa on the Echo system from Amazon. Even though pets are not actually able to converse with Alexa, this year's April Fool's prank from the brand still shows off the capable smart home system.
