In honor of Cinco de Mayo, Chef Bjorn DelaCruz of Manila Social Club created a tequila-infused treat called the 'Patrón Platinum Donut.' Not only does the new donut celebrate one of Mexico's most beloved beverages, but it also puts a luxurious twist on a classic American treat.
The Patrón Platinum Donut is a silver-colored pastry inspired by the the Patrón Margarita of The Year, which is the Rosa Picante. The foundation of the donut consists of a pâté a choux made with ginger and powdered rose ashes. The inside of the donut contains a rose-infused whipped mousse paired with a chili-calamansi Margarita jelly made from Patrón Platinum. To give the donut an extra-special touch, the outside is covered with edible sheets of platinum and silver powder.
While each donut costs as whopping $150, all the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
