Artist and chef Pancake Bot is known for turning sweet breakfast foods into portraits of famous faces. In this latest work of food art, Pancake Bot recreates President Barack Obama's face entirely out of pancake batter.
During Obama's race for presidency, graffiti artist Shepard Fairey created a visually appealing blue and red illustration of Obama using color blocking. The poster, attached to the promising slogan 'HOPE,' became an viral trademark for Obama's campaign. Pancake Bot turns Fairey's celebrate chromatic portrait into an edible work of art using pancake batter. To recreate Obama's face, Pancake Bot uses squirt bottles so the pancake batter can be applied to the pan as paint. To create shadows, the darker portions of the portrait are left to cook longer on the grill. The end result is a breathtaking recreation of Obama's HOPE poster image.
