Padlokt is a new app that combines the direct access to celebrities that social media offers while also giving fans a more authentic means of communicating with their idols. The app allows celebrities to set up live video broadcasts and have face to face conversations with fans who tune in.
Padlokt works by assigning various celebrities and organizations their own channels. If a celebrity decides to do a session on live video chatting, they can promote it through their Padlokt account as well as their existing social media channels. Padlokt is a relatively new platform, so there are only a few celebrities currently on it. These include Julius Randle of the Los Angeles Lakers and Randall Cobb of the Green Bay Packers. The UFC also has a channel.
Fans can get a chance to talk to their favorite celebrities by submitting a ballot with their question on it in the lead up to the stream.
