Ownever's Gunta Handbag Spotlights Traditional Portuguese Weaving

Ownever's Gunta Handbag celebrates the forgotten art of traditional Portuguese weaving. Enlisting the help of Fernando Rei -- one of the only remaining artisans to still create traditional Portuguese weaving in the world -- the brand has created a timeless bag that is intricately and manually made.

Fernando Rei is no stranger to creating luxury items and has worked with brands like Christian Louboutin in the past. Embodying Ownever's ethos of "owning and taking care of something forever," the Gunta Handbag spotlights Rei's immense talent and pays homage to the Bauhaus weaver school and the work of renowned German textile artist Gunta Stölzl.

"We cannot let traditions and craftsmanship die, because this is the art that tells a genuine story, and if we do not value it, it will end up dying," said Eliana Barros, Ownever's founder about the handbag. Constructed with "100% natural wool in a vegetable-tanned leather structure," the bag is fitted with an interior flat pocket for daily essentials, a top handle and an extra shoulder strap. It is priced at 870 euros and available via the Ownever website.
