Iconic Optical Illusion Architecture

Vicente de Paulo Manipulates the Work of Oscar Niemeyer

Fashion and portrait photographer Vicente de Paulo captures the most iconic buildings of the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in the form of optical illusions. The project was commissioned by the multi-format art and culture magazine Visionaire in collaboration with online art-seller Paddle8, to portray Oscar Niemeyer’s work as if it was seen through 3D glasses. The breathtaking result revives the buildings made between 1940 and 1990 in São Paolo, Brasilia, and Rio de Janeiro.

Ten photographs are transformed into anaglyphic images and then also reproduced in different proportions to create an optical illusion for the viewer. The images are the perfect form of tribute to Niemeyer.

The limited edition images were made to accompany the latest issue of Visionaire allowing purchasers to own the work of Brazil’s greatest architect.
