A recent study by the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and Carnegie Mellon University called ‘The Oscar Curse’ has found that women who win the Academy Award for Best Actress are far more likely to divorce than male winners and those who are only nominated.
The researchers behind the ‘Oscar Curse’ study believe the alarming findings may have something to do with traditional (and wildly outdated) gender roles that can sometimes cause friction within a marriage when a female spouse earns more money or is more successful than her husband.
