The Oru Kayak Makes Spontaneous Nautical Adventures Possible

Weighing just 25 lbs, the Oru Kayak was designed by architect Anton Willis to be a way for nature-lovers to hike their kayak out to remote areas, assemble it in five minutes, and be able to take on the open waters. Once assembled, it measures 12 feet long and is reported by testers to be incredibly stable.

"It’s very stable while still elegant and quick on the water," Willis said in an interview. "We’re proud that it's a very beginner-friendly boat, and truly, incredibly simple to assemble — it’s the magic of origami."

The product was launched on Kickstarter and saw a huge amount of support; in only five hours, the Oru Kayak met its goal of $80,000. The Oru Kayak will begin shipping out in Spring 2013.
