Open-Source Ventilator Releases

A NVIDIA Scientist Created a Cost Effective Open-Source Ventilator

Recently Bill Dally, a Chief Scientist for NVIDIA, created an open-source ventilator that can be effective in treating patients affected by COVID-19. The open-source ventilator is also cost-effective, and it is comprised of two easily available materials, including a proportional solenoid valve and a microcontroller. The unit can be easily put together in only a few minutes and the prototype was created using only $400 of materials, using 3D printed parts. However, the price could go down if the unit was produced on a large scale.

Dally released a statement about the cost-effective ventilator, "Our philosophy is to build the simplest possible ventilator that could be produced rapidly and inexpensively, but yet meet the needs of treating patients with COVID-19."
