Giving us a blast of the past, artist Hu Shaoming gives old technology a modern spin in his latest collection of sculptures entitled, 'Reconnecting Time.'
A never-ending thirst for how things work and what makes them tick is what drove Shaoming to recreate these antiquated designs that are fitted with zippers. Unzipping each one, we can see all the gears and gizmos that power each device, completely exposing the inner workings without at all damaging the overall structure of the gadgets. A shiny unzipped zipper holds the gleam of revelation, infusing these works with a hint of anticipation and excitement for those who are intrigued by antique machinery.
Hu Shaoming fuses vintage masterpieces with modern fittings in order to satisfy a thirst for knowledge and nostalgia.
