Economical Off-Grid Cabins

This Heated Cabin Offers Refuge From the Pacific Northwest Winter

Off-grid cabins are becoming an increasingly appealing way for people to escape the drudgery and stress of city life and embrace a more natural and eco-friendly mode of living. This is exactly what Alyssa Craft and Jesse Stafford have done, only their dwelling is unique in that it cost little more than $300.

This particular off-grid cabin measures 3 x 3.6 meters and comes equipped with a cedar roof and transparent clear plastic roofing that is used for windows. The cabin is completely insulated and is fitted with a wood-burning stove. Air-moving devices circulate warmth throughout the structure, an important feature given that is located in the often wintry environs of the Pacific Northwest.

Most importantly, this project proves that off-grid cabins don't need to be exorbitantly expensive and are actually an accessible means of alternative, eco-friendly living.
