This Nursing Robot Provides Care for Senior Citizens

'Luvozo' designed a nursing robot that can help to care for senior citizens staying in retirement homes. As a significant portion of the population continues to age, there is a growing demand for nursing staff. This robot helps to support the work of nurses while also providing care for seniors.

Luvozo's nursing robot is named 'SAM' and it functions as an autonomous human-robot hybrid. The robot is designed to move around nursing homes and check on residents throughout the day. While moving the robot can sense potential fall hazards such as spills, clutter or poor lighting. In addition, the robot helps to reduce isolation by making small talk with residents and asking about their personal care needs.

Although SAM cannot carry out medical care, the robot does help to provide an extra set of eyes in an environment that requires constant vigilance.
